A hydraulic proportional valve (electro hydraulic) uses a variable electrical signal, usually called "demand signal", to change the hydraulic flow or pressure output from a valve. This is typically done by varying the voltage across a wound coil, which in turn moves an internal spool or poppet.

The proportional flow control valve EPSR 14 controls a flow steplessly, depending on the drive electric current. The set flow rate remains constant even under changing pressure conditions (e.g. load pressure). The EPSR 14 is available in both 2-way and 3-way designs. Within this size it is possible to choose between numerous nominal flow rates.

A good rule of thumb is to use 70 -250 Hz dither frequency on all SP, ZL, and PV valves (flow and directional control valves), and 200-300 Hz dither frequency on TS Valves (proportional pressure control valves). Otherwise, at lower frequencies the actuator will follow the dither signal and the valve output will appear unstable.

Series PDFC­10 proportional directional valves are direct acting screw­in cartridges with a sliding spool design and a 7/8­14 UNF mounting thread.
